The Conference is aimed at providing a platform to educate and exchange information on best practices in the design, specification and implementation of Compliant Safety Systems. NFPA 101, LIFE SAFETY CODE (MASTER CLASS on Life Safety and Means of Egress)
This 2 day module provides the tools needed to confidently apply or enforce requirements and compliance mandates of the Life Safety Code contained in NFPA 101 (2015 Edition), Life Safety Code. It provides an overview of the latest technologies, design approaches, and challenges as it relates to all occupancy types. Topics that will be covered will include classification of construction and occupancy type, determining occupant load and egress capacity, requirements for protection of vertical openings and hazardous areas, and determining requirements for building services and fire protection features. NFPA 13, STANDARD FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SPRINKLER SYSTEMS
It is a 2 day model that looks at the engineering principles and provides a sound basis for all compliant sprinkler systems implementation for ALL facilities and occupancy types. This will be based on the fire sprinkler system requirements contained in NFPA 13 (2016 Edition), Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. The overview of the layout and organization of NFPA 13, the type of automatic sprinkler systems, how to classify hazards and how to choose the correct design criteria for a fire sprinkler system will be taught. This specialized 1 day module encompassing several standards focuses on the fire protection criteria required for aircraft hangars as per by NFPA 409 (2016), Standard on Aircraft Hangars. Following an overview of NFPA 409, this educational session will provide an overview of the NFPA 11 (2011 Edition), Standard for Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam, and NFPA 16 (2011), Standard for the Installation of Foam-Water Sprinkler and Foam-Water Spray Systems, as it relates to the protection requirements of Aircraft Hangars. A review of the different methods and types of foam extinguishing agents used in aircraft hangars, including the design criteria and system design/layout for each system type will be taught. Data Center Operators and Facility owners, consultants, builders and regulatory bodies in the Telecommunications sectors will find immense value in this module. It is a 1 day session, that reviews the applicable codes and standards associated with protecting data centers and similar critical facilities from the effects of smoke and fire with a focus on building construction, fire detection and alarms systems, fire sprinkler systems, and supplemental fire suppression systems. Industry standards and best practices, above and beyond the minimum code requirements, as well as processes for developing a performance-based approach will also be discussed. Students should leave with a general understanding of the fire risks associated with data centers and the various means and methods to reduce such risks. The class will provide an overview of the fire protection criteria required for computer and data processing center as required by NFPA 75 (2013), Standard for the Fire Protection of Information Technology and NFPA 76 (2012), Standards for the Fire Protection Telecommunications Facilities. Following an overview of NFPA 75 and NFPA 76, this training session will provide an overview of the NFPA 2001 (2015), Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems Equipment.
